Rug No.: FSE-AB11
Type: Soumak
Size: 5’ 10” x 7’ 8”
Description: This rug is like no others in our collection, a true rare find. It has a mix of hand-knotted pile and soumak weaving that creates a delightfully varied texture. Soumak is a type of flatwoven textile produced by braiding around the warp threads rather than with knots. The result is more durable than a kilim, but you would care for it just the same as normal pile rugs. This rug is neat with a four by six grid with emblems and individual designs in each square. The rug is predominantly red with borders of a deeper aquamarine. The details are cream, yellow gold, and blue, and it has a short fringe.
