Description: Dated to approximately 1875. Ferahan Sarouk rugs are double weft making them heavier with a higher knot count than other Persian rugs such as the Sultanabad. The higher the knot count the more time, labor, and skill intensive the creation process, which is to say that this is a rare find. This rug is predominantly faded brick with cream, black, blue, and light blue detailing. The design centers vines and flowers around a large central medallion making it an ornate yet uniformly-busy such that it is not overwhelming.
